Emmerdale's Arthur Thomas sparks a showdown at The Woolpack next week after involving John Sugden in a lie about his sex life.

Arthur is left mortified as his attempts to impress his friend April Windsor backfire badly.

Next week's episodes are eventful for the Thomas family, with Arthur and his mum Laurel both preoccupied by their respective love lives.

Laurel tries to hide the fact that she's had a one-night stand with local vicar Charles Anderson, but her best friend Nicola King soon finds out.

Nicola is fully supportive of the romantic match, putting Laurel on the spot by asking why her fling with Charles seems to be over already.

When Laurel and Charles meet up to talk things through, they agree that they should go their separate ways.

This ultimately proves impossible and when they give into temptation again, Arthur walks in and catches them together. Laurel begs Arthur not to tell anyone, as she doesn't want to be the focus of village gossip.

Meanwhile, Arthur wants April to think that he's more experienced than he really is, so he makes a point of flirting with John.

Arthur then takes things a step further, lying to April by claiming to have had sex with John. Laurel overhears the conversation and is furious over the age gap, with Arthur still just 17.

Laurel heads off to find John and tracks him down at The Woolpack, where she confronts him with Arthur's claims.

A bewildered John of course denies everything, forcing Arthur to backtrack from his boasting.

In the middle of the row, Arthur also lets slip about Laurel and Charles' new-found passion.

The revelation upsets Laurel's estranged husband Jai Sharma, who's been holding out hope for a reunion with her.

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4.

Emmerdale's Moira Dingle makes the difficult decision to step away from her farm business next week.

Moira realises that it's time for a break to focus on her health as her business starts to suffer.

Earlier this month, Moira was diagnosed with a meningioma, a non-cancerous type of brain tumour.

The tumour has led to Moira experiencing confusion, memory loss, seizures and sudden mood swings.

Next week, Moira's son Matty arrives at Butler's Farm with a hold-all, ready to move in for a while to support his mum.

Moira seems put out by this, which leaves Matty and Mackenzie Boyd concerned by her erratic behaviour.

Shortly afterwards, Mack's day gets worse when he finds that the sheep have escaped on the farm.

Mack accuses Moira of being responsible and she agrees that it might be best if she doesn't go out alone from now on.

When Moira and her loved ones track down the missing sheep, they're alarmed to spot that several of them aren't moving.

Vanessa Woodfield is called to the scene and she confirms that most of the sheep are dead, while another is in a bad state.

It's devastating for Moira as she's unable to remember what happened to cause this incident. She agrees that it's best if she stops work for a while.

Speaking about Moira's storyline, Natalie J Robb ? who plays her ? recently commented: "I feel really fortunate to be trusted with such a challenging storyline. Moira and her family have an extremely challenging time ahead, and I'm hoping I can portray it in a truthful way that does justice to all the people who are really suffering with a brain tumour."

Emmerdale producer Sophie Roper added: "Moira's diagnosis comes as a huge shock to both her and her family and Moira faces an emotional and challenging time ahead.

"The research and support we've received throughout this storyline has allowed us to depict the realities of the condition and though at times it may be distressing to see the symptoms Moira's experiencing, we're keen to explore the hope and resilience Moira finds as she comes to terms with her diagnosis."

Monday

Emmerdale's Moira Dingle isn't pleased when her son comes to 'babysit'

With Cain in Scotland visiting Zak, it's fallen to Moira's brother Mack to look after the farmer who has a brain tumour.

But Moira's erratic behaviour is a lot to handle on top of the kids and the running of the house. And more importantly, there are her seizures to watch out for, which are a lot in themselves.

Needing help, Mack recruits Matty. But Moira takes umbrage at the sight of her son, armed with his bag. Can the pair get her to understand they're there to help her ? and that she desperately needs them?

Liam tries to get John to open up about his relationship with Aaron. But the ex-Army medic, who's been hired at the surgery, isn't up for talking about that at all.

Meanwhile, Aaron's the subject of conversation with PC Swirling who's been told that a consignment of smart watches have gone walkies.

Given that Aaron's car was spotted leaving the scene of the crime, the policeman has questions. But Aaron claims not to know what he's going on about.

When John ambles over, Aaron's pleased not to have told him what he's been up to on the sly.

Tuesday

Emmerdale's Nicola King wants the goss about Charles and Laurel

No one, least of Laurel Thomas, saw it coming when she ended up in bed with village vicar Charles.

Their recently discovered sizzling chemistry took the pair of them by surprise and they just couldn't help themselves.

Given that things are delicate with their exes, Manpreet and Jai, the secret smoochers are laying low.

But nothing escapes Laurel's nosy BFF Nicola and she wants to know what's going on.

Having filled Nicola in, Laurel is then asked to explain why she and Charles aren't taking their fling any further?

Later Laurel and Charles discuss the matter and decide it really is best to park their passion.

Can they put the sexy genie back in the bottle?

Elsewhere, Aaron and Mack need to get rid of the smart watches they've stolen.

Aaron's up for it when Mack suggests they use John's van. But John's not.

But Aaron's not really listening to his on-off lover and decides he'll use it anyway!

When the Dingle swipes his keys, will John notice?


Wednesday

Emmerdale's Moira Dingle makes an upsetting decision

When Moira Dingle learned she had a brain tumour, in some ways, it was a huge relief.

Finally there was an explanation for her weird behaviour, uncharacteristic impulses, her forgetfulness and most importantly, her scary seizures and hallucinations.

But on the flip side, of course, it was utterly terrifying news for the mum and her husband Cain.

With the specialists deciding that the 'watch and wait' approach was the best idea for now, while the family were desperate for her to have the tumour removed ASAP, the farmer has been hoping to keep calm and carry on as normal.

So Mack and Matty have moved into Butler's ? as Cain is in Scotland with Zak ? to help erratic Moira carry on running the house and the farm.

But Mack's been struggling to keep a handle on everything.

And when a gate is left open causing some of his sister's sheep to flee ? and others to die, it's a huge red flag.

With Moira thought to blame, especially as she fails to recall the events of the day, the farmer tearfully accepts she's going to have to stop working for now.

Elsewhere, Aaron and Mack move on to the next stage of their shady plan.

Having stolen a consignment of smart watches, Aaron loads them into John's van even though he's been expressly told he's not to use it.

Later, when Aaron checks on the van's dodgy contents he's horrified to find the vehicle empty?

Who's nabbed his haul?


Thursday

Emmerdale's Liam Cavanagh is sneaking about

It's been nothing but drama, drama, drama since Liam and Ella got together.

When her dark past caught up with her, the doctor was thrown to discover his girlfriend had killed her friend when she was 11 years old.

The tragic mess that followed saw their relationship collapse only to rekindle later when Ella miscarried Liam's baby.

But there's been another problem looming around in the background of their on-off relationship.

Given that they had been kind of a thing before Ella came on the scene, she's wary of Liam and Chas' bond.

When the pub landlady calls the doc to tell him she's a bit freaked out about a rash she's developed, Liam calls in.

Given that Chas had breast cancer, she's wary of anything out of the norm. Liam's quick to reassure her that it's nothing sinister.

Happy to be in each other's company, the pair catch up.

But when Liam returns home, he lies to Ella about where he's been.

Will she find out? Is he still harbouring secret feelings for the single Dingle?

There are secret feelings flying about down the road at Mulberry.

Sneaky singles Laurel and Charles find themselves having another passionate moment, even though they've tried to call it quits.

But the cat is out of the bag when Laurel's teenage son Arthur walks in and catches them snogging!

Laurel is mortified.

Will Arthur comply when she begs him not to fill in her ex, Jai?

Later, Arthur decides to try flirting with a much older man John Sugden.

Is there no end to Arthur's newfound confidence?

Emmerdale's Laurel Thomas is gunning for John

Laurel Thomas is a mum on a mission when she hears Arthur telling April that he's slept with John Sugden.

Given that the man is old enough to be the 17-year-old's dad, she's livid.

How will Jai react to hear that his ex has already kinda moved on?

In between all the drama, pub landlady Chas enjoys some secret excitement of her own, sharing a charged look with Liam across the bar.

Should Ella be worried about the future of her relationship with Liam?

Elsewhere, PC Swirling approaches Aaron on Main Street to question him about some stolen smart watches, after his car was caught leaving the scene of the crime. Aaron feigns innocence as John comes over. Aaron is happy to have kept John in the dark when Swirling finds no evidence.
