2641: Ash reveals a shocking family secret
Airs on Monday, September 7 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4
The Roys have an anxious time waiting for news of Ravi's condition as he lies unconscious in hospital, while a guilty Ash finds himself ostracised from the family. Anita struggles to cope with seeing her brother so ill and terrified about what could happen, she lashes out at Ash. The family, however, are forced to pull together when Ravi's sedatives are stopped as they wait to see if he'll wake up.
An eye flicker fills the family with hope but it's short-lived as Ravi remains in an unconscious state. Bel's struggling to cope and asks Leila to be civil to Ash for Ravi's sake but Leila can't hold back for long when he tries to blame anyone but himself for what happened. Bel's forced to step in and as an argument ensues, she eventually tells Ash to go.
Ash refuses to leave and goes straight to see Ravi where he finds Anita having a quiet moment alone with him. Anita doesn't want Ash there but needing to talk to someone, she engages in conversation with her elder brother. Wound up after his argument with Leila and his mum, Ash reveals a shocking family secret to a stunned Anita.
Meanwhile, Nancy's shocked when Kris rushes to tell her that Ravi's critically ill in hospital after taking part in an illegal street fight. He also informs her of his brain aneurysm. The pair put their mutual bad feelings aside to support Ravi.
Nancy's terrified about seeing him, not knowing what state he'll be in when they get to the hospital. She's shocked that he didn't tell her about his illness and when she sees him lying motionless, she's left speechless.
Kris and Nancy bond over their concern for Ravi, but Nancy's horrified when Ash announces that Kris knew everything about Ravi's condition and didn't stop him fighting.
Elsewhere, Steph's in a panic as there's food and drink critic from the Chester Herald's visiting Mobs at some point in the day. She's not impressed when Cheryl rolls in late, but her words falls on deaf ears as Cheryl's distracted watching a topless Calvin as he works on rebuilding The Loft.
Unable to concentrate on anything but Calvin, Cheryl makes him a smoothie and heads over to see him but he's a little scared by her overly-forward manner. Steph orders Cheryl back to work, but she's soon distracted again when Hayley arrives with a letter for her - she's being evicted from halls.
In support of Cheryl, Hayley goes to talk to the accommodation office but the girls end up arguing when Hayley makes the situation worse and Cheryl's left homeless. Steph's unsympathetic and is on the verge of sacking Cheryl before she has a change of heart and gives her another opportunity the following day. Believing her day's been a complete disaster, Steph's thrilled when she discovers that Mobs has been given a high score by the critic.
2642: Josh and Hayley share a kiss

Anita's devastated after Ash's revelation and Ash panics when she insists on raising the issue with her parents. He convinces her that they're more interested in Ravi and would only resent her if she brought it up now of all times.
The Roys are frustrated that nobody will tell them anything about Ravi's condition. Struggling to handle the situation, Anita heads home with Ash. Unable to accept Ash's revelation, Anita realises that she has to get out of the house. She runs into in the village and with just a few kind words, Anita finds herself distracted for the first time in a while.
Enjoying the distraction from the family situation, Anita's glad to have Ricky around but when he suddenly tells her that he has to go, Anita decides to confide in him about the family secret. Desperate to get away from her family, Anita asks if she can stay at Ricky's house but Ricky tells her that it's a bad time, before leaving Anita alone...
Meanwhile, Nancy berates Kris for not doing more to stop Ravi from fighting but Kris doesn't take it well. He tries to explain that in spite of everything he said or did, Ravi was determined to fight regardless. They decide to go and see Ravi in hospital but the frostiness lingers and Nancy decides to leave.
Outside the hospital, Kris reassures Nancy that Ravi knows she cares for him and that things will improve. Back at the flat, Kris's kindness strikes a chord with Nancy. As he leaves, there's a moment between them as they acknowledge the renewed connection.
Calvin's shell-shocked when Cheryl arrives at the Valentines' and bursts in with beers and a couple of pizzas, insisting on feeding the big man. After the meal, Calvin tells Cheryl that he has to go check on The Loft. Panicking that she'll be homeless, Cheryl begs Calvin to return quickly as she'll make them dessert.
Bamboozled by Cheryl's whirlwind persuasion techniques, Calvin reluctantly relents. As Cheryl flirtily tucks into dessert, Calvin reveals that he's meeting mates in town and is a little pressed for time. A dejected Cheryl slopes back to halls, still unable to bed the man of her dreams.
Elsewhere, Rhys is supposed to be taking Hayley out for a drink but he's forced to work. He drafts in Hayley and Josh to help him prepare a music quiz for The Dog. Hayley and Josh quickly become bored, so they decide to return to halls.
There's an electricity between Hayley and Josh that neither can completely ignore but they try to get on with things. Before long, though, they give in to temptation and share a kiss. Shocked at what they've done, matters are made worse when they realise that Cheryl has walked in on them and has seen everything.
2643: The Roys are shocked by Anita's revelation

Anita's still reeling from Ash's announcement and when she insists that she's not going to school, Leila can tell something's wrong. Before she can get anything out of Anita, Ash interrupts them.
At school, Theresa tells a worried Gov that Anita was feeling lousy last night. Ash, meanwhile, informs an angry Leila that the police have dropped the case against him. Anita's in a rebellious mood, though, and decides to go to school anyway. She talks rudely to her father in the corridor and recruits Theresa on a trouble-making mission. Anita, however, won't say what's happened, except that her dad's lied to her.
In Des's class, Anita listens to her MP3 player instead of concentrating and both she and Theresa end up in detention. While there, however, Anita wrecks the classroom. Des is surprised at Anita's actions, but realises something is drastically wrong.
Just as she's apologising, Gov walks in with Leila and demands to know what's going on but Anita spitefully reveals how her dad covered for her when she stole exam papers.
Gov prepares to resign, while a confused Leila can't understand Anita's attitude. As Leila confronts her sister, Anita reveals exactly what Ash told her earlier in the week…
Meanwhile, Loretta's gutted when Darren reveals that they both owe money for the boiler repair. Meanwhile, Jack and Frankie prepare for their anniversary meal.
Steph's ordered a bottle of bubbly for them, while Jack despairs that Darren hasn't even remembered. Instead, a bored Darren heads over to Nancy's flat where he winds up her and Hannah. Just as Hannah's about to kick him out, he bluffs that he was planning to take her for lunch to make up for not attending her surprise party.
Nancy's worried about Ravi and when she bumps into Loretta who's also feeling glum, Nancy invites her over for some girly time. Over at Il Gnosh, Darren and Hannah end up sat near Jack and Frankie's table. Hannah suggests that Darren send over a bottle of wine. However, an argument ensues and as Jack, Frankie and Hannah walk out, Darren's left to pick up the bill.
Later, Nancy's surprised when Loretta arrives with an overnight bag. Nancy tensely explains she didn't mean for her to stay over but then seeing how down Loretta is, agrees she can…
Elsewhere, Gilly finds a stressed Steph at Mobs - the pipes are blocked and workman are making a racket over at The Loft. Steph says she'll get Fernando to fix her pipes and Gilly, seeing an opportunity to get one over on Fernando and impress Steph himself, offers to do it instead.
As Gilly messes about with a new waste disposal unit, Cheryl can see he doesn't know what he's doing. Nevertheless, Steph's impressed. However, as he switches on the newly-fitted unit, the fuse is blows for Mobs and the workmen at The Loft. Gilly's left red-faced and looking stupid…
2644: Ravi confirms Ash's deception

Cheryl's shocked when she walks in on Josh and Hayley enjoying a cheeky kiss. Hayley assures her that it's not cheating because she has every intention of breaking up with Rhys as her feelings for Josh are stronger. Josh is terrified that Cheryl's going to tell someone as she insists that she can't keep secrets. To make matters worse, Rhys later confides in a nervous Josh that he believes Hayley might be seeing someone else.
Josh quickly dispels his thoughts but is alarmed by how intuitive Rhys is. Josh goes to find Hayley to tell her about Rhys's suspicions and feeling too guilty, he decides to break things off with her.
Cheryl tries her best to keep Josh and Hayley's secret but eventually confides in Leo. The pair get on well and over a few betting slips, Leo refuses to see Cheryl homeless and offers her a bed at the Valentines'.
Meanwhile, Darren's at Nancy's flat irritating Hannah and sponging whatever food he can off the girls. Hannah and Nancy become irritated by Loretta's bathroom hogging and Hannah's impatience results in her pulling the bathroom handle clean off and locking Loretta in. Nancy reaches boiling point and tells Hannah that under no circumstance should she let Darren fix the door. She's furious, though, when she later walks in on him doing just that.
As the pressure mounts on Nancy, Darren manages to work her into a frenzy of tears. When Loretta's finally released from the bathroom, a devious Darren quickly reassures her that Nancy's so pleased to have her staying. An oblivious Loretta is over the moon, while Nancy is less that pleased with her new lodger.
