Barrowman defends 'Doctor Who' spin-off

The actor, who reprises his role as Captain Jack for the thirteen-part series, is tired of seeing Torchwood described as an X-rated version of Doctor Who.

Barrowman told the Radio Times, "Everyone says it's the X-rated Doctor Who, but it's not. It's going to be Britain's answer to The X Files."

Former S Club star Rachel Stevens and Charlotte Church have both been tipped for roles in the show, which airs on BBC Three later this year.

This should be really good. I can't wait to see how they get him into it, if that makes sense.

Glad there's a spin off but I am just praying I will have digital TV in time for it. Why do they put so many good things on BBC3? I loved captain Jack so I can't wait for it to start.

I guess, if they put it on BBC1 it would look like a cheap rip off of DW
