Steve returns back from his break in Spain but he’s hardly had time to put his bags down when the troubles he went to get away from return to haunt him once again. Not only does he have the paternity hearing looming, and a large solicitor’s bill to pay, but he returns to work to find that Dev has sold his share in Streetcars. Steve is stunned to discover that his new business partner is actually newly-appointed taxi driver Lloyd. Just to add insult to injury he hears from Karen’s solicitor who informs an incredulous Steve that his ex-wife now wants the television set she bought him as a gift returned to her. How will Steve deal with these latest revelations?
Meanwhile, Mike seems to have taken his eye off the ball at the factory. With Danny away on holiday and Adam working at Penny’s factory for the day, Mike was supposed to be opening up in the morning but he forgets and heads off to the golf club instead. Never one to be in the wrong Mike claims he had asked Danny to make arrangements for the factory to be opened. Penny is furious and vows to tackle Danny on his return but is Mike lying to cover up his own mistake?
Elsewhere, Janice is mortified when she inadvertently catches nits off Sophie Webster. She is sent home from the factory and won’t be paid until she sorts the situation out. She enlists Sean’s help in getting to the root of the problem but his solution turns out to be a bit drastic. How will Janice react to her enforced new look?

Will Jamie be able to get rid of their unwanted guest and how will Leanne react to having her evening ruined by this face from Jamie’s past.

Her mood isn’t helped when she is told by Sally that she could have used specially formulated dog shampoo in order to get rid of her infestation. An unhappy Janice fumes as she is made to look like the laughing stock in front of the Rovers’ regulars.

There’s a shock in store for Sophie on her first day at Weatherfield Comprehensive school. She happily sets off for her new school with fellow pupil Chesney but the smiles quickly turn to tears for the youngster when upon arrival she is told that she is not registered with the school therefore her place has been allocated to another child. Upon discovering the news, Sally is horrified and quickly heads down to the school to confront the headmaster. Will the distraught mother be able to persuade the school to find a place for Sophie or have her previous dealings with the headmaster put Sophie’s educational future in jeopardy?
Having stayed the night, Jamie’s mum, Carol, is helping out around the house, much to Leanne’s annoyance. Leanne implores Jamie to get rid off her as two’s company but three’s a crowd. Jamie hatches a plan, telling her he’s got a delivery to make near Wolverhampton so could drop her off at home. Will Carol get the hint and take up Jamie’s offer of a lift home or has she got another reason to be in Weatherfield at the moment?
Elsewhere, Claire is frustrated when she attempts to enlist volunteers to help her clean up the local park. It seems the residents of Weatherfield are not as community minded as she had thought.
Also, Maria panics when a valuable dog goes missing from the kennels. Will she locate the missing pooch before its owners return?
Friday, 2nd September
Carol continues to make her presence felt in Weatherfield. After shocking Jamie and Leanne the previous evening with news of her eviction, she calls in at the factory looking for her son. She quizzes the factory girls about Mike’s business empire and it quickly becomes apparent that she may have already had a few drinks earlier that day. Mike returns to work to find Carol sat in his office drinking his scotch. How will Mike react having not set eyes on Carol for many years?
Kevin celebrates his 40th birthday but it looks like the occasion is going to be a bit of a damp squib because Sally is preoccupied by the lack of a school place for daughter Sophie and hapless colleague Tyrone has failed to organize any sort celebration. However, Kevin’s friends rally round and they mark his landmark birthday with drinks in the Rovers.
Meanwhile, hunky gardener Andrew calls into the Rovers to check on how many volunteers Claire has managed to rope in to help tidy the park. When everybody discovers how good looking he is, the offers of help come flooding in.
Elsewhere, Martin reveals his new pastime to a stunned Sarah and David. However, things don’t go according to plan when David storms off in disgust.
