ITV has seen the future of Saturday night telly - and it's Paul Potts-shaped.
Its next celeb reality show will be called Popstars to Opera Stars, TV Biz can reveal. And it will do exactly what it says on the tin. Pop stars will train to sing arias and then perform them in front of judges and a live studio audience. Each week viewers will vote one off until the new Paul Potts is revealed.
Britain's Got Talent winner Paul will perform and could also mentor the hopefuls.
Opera stars including Katherine Jenkins, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Bryn Terfel and Russell Watson are in the frame as judges.
Insiders said the line-up of stars could include big names such as Will Young. TV Biz has even produced a mock-up, top right, of how Will could look as the next Pavarotti. A source told us: "We're aiming big, as this will be a massive show.
"We are talking about people like Will, Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud and Mutya from the Sugababes.
"It's all about getting people out of their comfort zones. It is a tough call for an established singer, as they could end up struggling with some of the notes in opera." ITV bosses want to cash in on the success of Potts who has raked in millions since he won the first Britain's Got Talent in 2007. Susan Boyle also showed more traditional singers can woo punters.
